Apple sued for patent infringement

Elan Microelectronics of Taiwan has sued Apple for what it claims is infringement on its two touchscreen technology patents. Elan Microelectronics says it holds the patent for the touchscreen technology used in Apple iPhones and iPods Touch.

Touchscreen technology is widely used in many smartphones today, but it was pioneered by the Apple iPhone.

Elan Microelectronics says it has already won a similar lawsuit against Symantics Inc., and that it will try to get an injunction to stop the sale of Apple products which infringe the patents.
